Iran, France universities to develop relations

Tehran, May 12, IRNA – Chancellor of Amirkabir University of Technology Ahmad Motamedi expressed readiness for fostering scientific and educational ties with University of Poitiers in France.

Speaking in a meeting with officials of University of Poitiers, Motamedi said over 4.5 million students are now studying in Iran.

This is while, there were just 170,000 university students before the Islamic Revolution.

He added that Iranian government's policy is to invest in human resources.

Iranian prestigious universities have always tried to follow quality promotion, Motamedi said.

He described establishing international relations with good universities in the world as a way to increase the quality level of sciences in universities.

Meanwhile, President of the University of Poitiers Yves Jean expressed interests to maintain cooperation with Iran in literature, law, maths and environment fields.

He also extended readiness for cooperate with Iran in biology and medical imaging fields.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Jean pointed to Poitiers' activities in transplantation.

The University of Poitiers is a university in Poitiers, France. It is a member of the Coimbra Group, as one of the oldest universities of Europe.

As of July 2015 it is a member of the regional university association Leonardo da Vinci consolidated University.
