Four new drugs for cancer, diabetes unveiled

Karaj, May 7 - IRNA - Four new drugs for treating cancer and diabetes were unveiled on Tuesday at a ceremony attended by Vice President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari, and Minister of Health Saeed Naksi in the industrial city of Eshtehard, Alborz province.

The drugs are being developed and commercialized by the researchers of the Baran Pharmacy Company in Eshtehard which is an effective step in the treatment of certain diseases, introduction of the ability and creativity of Iranian scientists, saving money and helping the economy of the country.

Also, these drugs include 'Sorafenib', 'Regorafenib' for the treatment of cancer, and 'Empagliflozin' and 'Dapagliflozin' for the treatment of new type 2 diabetes, which have no side effects of previous medications.

In another development, the Ecto-Tech innovation Center in the Ector Pharmaceutical Group of Baharestan Industrial city of Alborz Province began its activities on Tuesday with the presence of the Vice President of Science and Technology.

According to IRNA, the center of innovation is launched on academic opportunities for accelerating activities in food production.

The Ector Pharmaceutical Group has several pharmaceutical and food complexes that has launched the Innovation Center with the goal of accelerating scientific, knowledge-based and nutrition activities.

The visit was aimed at sustaining its development activities, supporting localization and benefiting from modern technology and knowledge- based technology.
