Belgian envoy terms JCPOA as diplomatic issue for world

Tehran, May 1, IRNA – Belgium's Ambassador to Tehran Veronique Petit described Iran's nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as an issue of diplomacy for world.

Preserving Iran's nuclear deal is an important element which will serve peace, security and stability in the region, Petit said in a meeting with spokesman of the women's faction in Iranian parliament Hamideh Zar Abadi.

Condemning US withdrawal from JCPOA, she lauded Iran's self-restraint and said the measures taken by the European Union regarding the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX) will help develop trade exchanges.

Petit went on to say that efforts are underway in line with promoting economic relations, adding that other European countries are trying to join INSTEX.

Referring to Belgian parliament's enactment on women's affairs, she emphasized the importance of parliamentary relations in developing cooperation.

Meanwhile, Zar Abadi referred to US unilateral acts against some countries, saying US is the violator of international commitments and is encouraging others to do so.

She emphasized the importance of all countries participation in fighting breach of international commitments.

Elsewhere in her remarks, Zar Abadi criticized human rights activists for the silence toward US destructive policies to prevent drug transfer to patients.

Iranian lawmaker emphasized increasing interactions among women in Iranian and Belgian parliaments.

Regional and international peace and stability require the boosting bilateral relations, she noted.
