Envoy: US sanctions not to affect Iran - Russia relations

Tehran, April 20, IRNA – Iran's Ambassador to Russia Mehdai Sanaei said the US sanctions against Iran and Russia have failed to adversely affect Tehran-Moscow ties and even helped relations significantly develop not just in military sphere but in other sectors as well.

Addressing a ceremony to celebrate Iran's National Army Day in Mscow, he noted that Iran's President Hassan Rouhani and Vladimir Putin during the past five years which they served in this post.

Iran celebrated National Army Day on Thursday with military parades and display of defense hardware in different parts of the country.

Sanaei described Russia as a country that has always had friendly relations with the military forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran

He said thik kind of cooperation is growing, and the two sides are expanding relations and willing to strengthen it.

'Within the framework of defense cooperation between the two countries, Iran's Defense Minister will participate in the eighth Moscow's Security Conference next week,' said The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Defense cooperation between the two countries is in the framework of countering terrorism and extremism in the region, in particular in Syria, Iran Envoy added.

'Mehdi Sanaei' added that Iran's move is to avoid tension and its neighbors are confident that Iran's peaceful missile activities and armed forces are not an invasive power but a defensive and deterrent power.
