“This is his first visit to Pakistan since he assumed the office as the Secretary General of the Organization,” it said.
According to the statement Dr. Hadi will call on President Dr. Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
“He will also discuss issues related to ECO including cultural cooperation among ECO Member countries, infrastructure development agenda of ECO, regional connectivity and trade liberalization with the Federal Ministers of Information, Finance, Planning, Development and Reforms and Communication,” it added.
The Secretary General will also meet the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Commerce, Textile and Industry and Chairman Board of Investment (BOI).
ECO is a political and economic intergovernmental organization which was founded in 1984 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey.
Later it was joined by seven new members; Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
It provides a platform to discuss ways to improve development and promote trade and investment opportunities.

Islamabad, March 12, IRNA -- Iranian Secretary General of Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour is in Islamabad from 12 - 15 March to hold important meetings with Pakistani leadership on Pak-ECO cooperation, a foreign ministry statement said.
