Hassan Rouhani made the remarks Saturday while receiving Indian ambassador to Iran Gaddam Dharmendra credentials.
Referring to the fact that developing relations with India is of importance to Iran, he said Iran's mission is to preserve strong ties with India.
Expressing happiness over the achievements made after the recent trip made by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Iran, President Rouhani said agreements between the two countries as regard Chabahar and also the trilateral agreement between Iran, Afghanistan and India were very important.
Tehran hails developing relations with New Delhi in issues of mutual interest, he added.
He also referred to facilitating implementation of agreements in energy field and also finalizing long-term agreements between Tehran and New Delhi as a valuable step in reinforcing relations.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani described as essential cooperation between Iran and India in fighting terrorism.
He also expressed hope that New Delhi and Islamabad would take steps in line with peace and establishing friendly ties.
He expressed Iran's readiness to develop cooperation with India in fighting terrorism and maintaining security in the region.
Meanwhile, Dharmendra submitted his credentials to the Iranian president, saying New Delhi is seeking enhanced relations is all fields.
Pointing to good developments in Chabahar, he said using national currencies in trade exchanges has reinforced cooperation.
He also called for strengthening joint cooperation in fighting terrorism.
