VP calls for establishment of joint museums

Tehran, March 5, IRNA - Vice President and Head of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) Ali Asghar Munesan in his meeting with the Ambassador of Spain to Iran called for establishment of joint museums between the two countries.

In the meeting with Eduardo Lopez Busquets on Tuesday, Munesan said that one way to illustrate the facts is to hold joint museums among countries.

'The people of the world must know that Iranians are rooted in history and are kind and peaceful,' the Iranian official said.

Head of ICHTO touched on, 'Common museums measures in the turbulent atmosphere of today's world are among the issues that can help peace. With the themes and actions of culture, nations can be brought together and this way the nations will really be familiar with each other, our country is unduly under negative propagation and economic pressure because we want to be independent; one of the missions important for us is to show the facts.'

Munesan expressed the hope that the exhibition of Iranian Artistic works in Spain slated to start on March 14 will also be welcomed by the people of Spain.

'There are areas for cooperation between Iran and Spain in the fields of cultural heritage, arts and tourism,' Munesen said, adding, 'In the area of cultural heritage, the exchange of experiences in the exploration and restoration of historical monuments is one of the topics that the two countries can cooperate with each.”

The Spanish Ambassador to Tehran for his part underlined, 'Spain is ready to cooperate with Iran in various fields of cultural heritage, crafts and tourism.'

Eduardo Lopez Busquets added, 'Spanish archeologists last year participated in several conferences and events in this area, as well as a memorandum of understanding on reconstructing monuments with the revitalization and exploitation of historic monuments fund has been signed.'
