Future of Iran-Iraq relations promising: Official

Tehran, Feb 28, IRNA – A senior Iranian official, referring to the commonalities between Iranian and Iraqi people, described as promising future of the ties between the two neighboring nations.

Iran and Iraq have lots of commonalities and promotion of cultural exchanges between them can enrich both countries' culture, Mostafa Rostami Head of the Iran Supreme Leader's representatives in universities said.

He made the remarks in a conference on development of cooperation among Iran and Iraq elites, held in Tehran on Thursday.

The cleric also pointed to Iraq's support for Iran during the sanctions and noted that the two countries should exploit all the opportunities to enhance mutual relations.

In the meantime, Abu Mohammad Mortazavi, Chief Executive Officer of the conference said in his lecture that exchange of students will promote Iran and Iraq's scientific cooperation.

Mehran Mojahed, Secretary of conference in his lecture, called for scientific cooperation between the two nations' academics and researchers.

He said that knowledge-based relationships can consolidate cultural and social relations between the two countries.
