Pakistani judge injured in targeted attack

Islamabad, Feb 28, IRNA -- A judge of Pakistani high court and his driver were injured as unidentified attackers opened fire at his vehicle in north western city of Peshawar on Thursday, local media reported.

Reports, quoting Police officials, said unidentified attackers fired at least 10 to 15 times at the car with a pistol and a sub-machine gun.

Police say Justice Muhammad Ayub Khan and his employee, Muhammad Gul, were heading towards the Peshawar High Court when they were intercepted in Hayatabad area.

Justice Ayub has been shifted to North West Hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

Police have sealed the locality and started an investigation.

It is pertinent to note here that Justice Ayub has previously served as an accountability judge in Peshawar.
