During the meeting, both religious personalities discussed the latest developments in the Islamic world, especially Bahrain.
'What makes you happy makes us happy too and what disturbs you also disturbs us,' Ayatollah Makarem said.
He also honored struggles of Bahraini Shias and their leader Sheikh Is Qasim.
Ayatollah Makarem prayed for his health and release of all Muslims, Bahraini Shias in particular, from the evil of the oppressors.
Bahrain is the scene of popular revolution against Al-e Khalifa regime since February 14, 2011. They ask for freedom, justice and indiscrimination and democratic government.
Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim is Bahrain's leading Shia cleric and a politician. He is the spiritual leader of Al Wefaq, Bahrain's biggest opposition society.
