Iran busts document forgery group after a year of intel operations

Kerman, Feb 25, IRNA- Iran’s Islamic Revolution Gurad Corps busted a large group that forged various state documents and was involved in arms sales in the southeast of the country.

Dadkhoda Salari, the Public Prosecutor in Kerman Province, some 900 kilometers south of the capital Tehran, said on Monday the group was discovered and later “eliminated” following a year of “heavy” intelligence operations carried out by the intel organisation of the Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

The group, 10 members of which have been captured so far, was involved in forging governmental, educational and military service documents, according to the official.

Its members were also trying to “penetrate” into state organisations, the local prosecutor added, saying they smuggled combat and hunting rifles into the country.

Iranian intelligence forces discovered and confiscated forged documents, 7 combat and hunting rifles, 110 cartridges and ammunition as well as a taser gun.

Salari noted that an investigation is going on about those individuals who had “collaborated” with state organizations.
