Russian FM criticizes US withdrawal from Iran deal

Moscow, Feb 25, IRNA – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov referred to continuation of US unilateralism and its officials' inattention to UNSC decisions and criticized them for walking away from Iran nuclear deal.

Lavrov who is in Vietnam to attend the 'International Cooperation in a Troubled World' said US wants to solve some problems in its own fashion instead of following international standards.

He added that rarely one can hear any statements in support of international norms by Washington administrataion nowadays and instead Americans defend the order which is based on their own principles.

They (Americans), as far as the nuclear deal with Iran and addressing the Middle East issues are concerned, choose to repeat the same approach and tend to disregard decisions made by the United Nations Security Council.

Trump earlier announced on May 8, 2018, the withdrawal from the JCPOA, which was condemned by other parties to the 2015 agreement and their emphasis to stay in the landmark international deal.

This is while, the International Atomic Energy Agency in its 14th report on February 22 reiterated Iran compliance with its commitments under the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
