Iran, Iraq discuss ways to strengthen military ties

Baghdad, Feb 25, IRNA – Iranian Deputy Minister of Defense Brigadier General Qassem Taqizadeh met with Iraqi Chief of Staff Othman al-Ghanmi to discuss ways to strengthen military ties between the two neighboring nations.

The meeting was also attended by Brigadier General Mostafa Moradian, the Iranian military attaché in Iraq.

Bolstering stability and security in the region, examining the most recent collaborations, and enhancing cooperation ti fight terrorism were discussed in the meeting.

Iran's deputy minister of defense also met Iraqi Defense Minister Caretaker Mohammad-Javad al-Ebadi in a separate event.

Iran and Iraq, alongside Syria and Russia, have cooperation in the framework of countering terrorism, especially Daesh (ISIS).

The intelligence command center for the quadrilateral cooperation to fight terrorism is headquartered in Baghdad.
