Iran border guards discover 55 tons of narcotics in 1 year

Tehran, Feb 23, IRNA - Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Border Guards Command Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei said 55 tons illegal drugs have been discovered since the biggining of the current Iranian calendar year (to end March 20, 2019).

Addressing a conference to discuss geopolitical developments at border points, Rezaei said no country in the world has border threats like Iran.

The border threats are not comparable with those of before Islamic Revolution, he added.

He went on to say that border guards have three responsibilities, first military and defensive, second enforcement and third diplomatic ones.

Earlier, Rezaei urged the regional and western countries to cooperate with Iran in fighting drug-trafficking.

Western countries' cooperation with Iran in fighting drug trafficking is necessary, he reiterated.
