50 step rise in Iran global index of Open Data

Tehran, Feb 20, IRNA - The head of the Information Technology Institute of Sharif University of Technology said that Iran's position in global indicators in relation to Open Data provided by governments to society and people has been promoted to 50th rank between 2015-2017.

Hamid Reza Rabiee, on Wednesday, highlighted at the Open Data and Applied Information Training Seminar, 'By 2015, we did not actually have open data, and our global position in this field was 117, but in 2017 we reached 67.

He explored the issue of empowering government and society using the possibility of open data, and explained, “The national open data system began its data dissemination activity nearly two years ago with the goal of promoting the culture of transparency of activities.

Rabiee noted that the National Data System project provides a common infrastructure for people and organizations to bring their own data into the system and access other people's data.

He said that the data available in this system is searchable and can be easily used, facilitating the search and retrieval of the important features of the system, and individuals can share their desired data with others, and this same feature, provides ground for accelerating the development of e-government.
