Over one ton of narcotics discovered in eastern Iran

Zahedan, Feb 17, IRNA - Police Chief of Sistan and Baluchestan province announced the discovery of one 1,107 kilograms of illicit drugs from the hideout of two drug traffickers in Iranshahr.

Brigadier General Mohammad Qanbari said on Sunday that Anti-Narcotics Police officers in the city of Iranshahr have specially addressed the issue by acquiring news and information on suspicious activity of a drug trafficking gang.

The official added that the team of officers managed to identify drug traffickers in one of the border areas of the city of Iranshahr by conducting field investigations and extensive intelligence activities on Saturday.

Police Chief of Sistan and Baluchestan said the law enforcement officers, acting in coordination with the judiciary, operated and arrested two drug traffickers.

He noted that Iranshahr Anti-Narcotics Police detected 593 kilograms of opium, over 513 kg of hashish and one kilogram of heroin during search of the hideout of the smugglers and seized a vehicle.
