Oman underlines continuation of ties with Iran

Tehran, Feb 16, IRNA – Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah stressed continuation of relations with Iran, saying all Persian Gulf Littoral States are aware of this fact.

Alawi bin Abdullah made the remarks on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in an interview with German media 'Deutsche Welle'.

Stressing Oman's efforts and mediation to support Palestinians, he said Oman is seeking consultations with other sides to maintain peace.

Referring to the attempts made by Oman to solve crisis in Qatar, he expressed hope for resolving it in the future.

On June 5, 2017 some Arab countries led by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE have officially severed ties with Qatar and closed air, road and sea lines with the country to put it under political and economic blockade.

The 55th Munich Security Conference attended by 600 international decision-makers in various fields, including politics, trade and civil society, is underway in Munich, Germany, on February 15-17 to deal with current crises and future challenges.

Munich Security Conference is held annually in the German city of Munich since 1963 with the aim of providing political, economic, scientific and military officials from around the world with an opportunity to explore ways of maintaining peace and establishing security.
