Sochi summit on Syria developments kicks off

Tehran, Feb 14, IRNA – The trilateral Iran-Russia-Turkey summit started on Thursday in the Black Sea resort of Sochi, Russia, to investigate developments in Syria.

Public Relations Department at Presidential Office said President Hassan Rouhan and Turkish President Recep Teyyip Erdogan were welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin upon arrival in the venue of the summit.

After posing themselves to a group photo, the three presidents, heading high-ranking delegations, started talks on Syria.

The one-day meeting aims to survey outcome of Astana talks and domestic political procedures in Syria.

The Sochi meeting is the fourth meeting of the three presidents to launch joint campaign against regional terrorism and restore calm and return of Syrian refugees to home land as well as establishment of political stability in the war-torn nation.

The result of the so-called Astana process talks and domestic political procedures, territorial integrity, sovereignty of Syrian people's public will and cooperation during Syrian reconstruction will be discussed in the summit.

Prior to the summit, Iranian president held separate meetings with Turkish and Russian counterparts to discuss regional and international as well as bilateral issues.
