Iran speaker: US causing trouble in Iran-Japan relations

Beijing, Feb 14, IRNA – Iran Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Thursday that the US causes trouble in Iran-Japan relations.

Addressing a number of Iranians in Japan, Larijani said Japanese officials have very favorable ideas for expansion of relations with Iran.

'However, the US as a trouble making element has caused problems in the run,' said Larijani.

Emphasizing that the US is a trouble maker, he said Americans were interested in nuclear talks and even formed a framework on the issue but after the election of Trump as the new US president the US left the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

He referred to talks held with the Japanese party and said the Japanese officials are positive with Iran and are very interested in upgrading cooperation with the country.

He said major Japanese companies want to cooperate with Iranians. 'The US behavior is not welcomed internationally; however, we will have a watch on the scene and act based on long-term interests. Economic problems will not last long and can be solved. Europeans have ideas for cooperation with us and certain countries want to set mechanisms for cooperation with Iran. Iran Embassy in Japan is expected to launch extensive efforts to encourage Japanese companies to invest in Iran.'

The Iranian speaker then unveiled a very old Iranian carpet in the ceremony.
