Iran arrests culprits in southern city terrorist attack

Ahvaz, Feb 12, IRNA – A senior provincial police chief in Khuzestan southwestern Iran said on Tuesday that nine main culprits and accomplices involved in the recent terrorist attack on a police station in the city of Mahshahr have been arrested.

Brigadier-General Heydar Abbaszadeh, Police Chief of Khuzestan Province, made the announcement while speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

On January 27, the terrorists carrying Kalashnikov rifles attacked a police station in the city of Mahshahr, killing a conscript soldier and injuring a police officer who died in hospital due to severe injuries.

Two types of war weapons and a car used in the attack have been found in the hideout used by the terrorists, Abbaszadeh said.

He also said the terrorists have confessed that they had already been involved in attacking several other military bases in the province.

Further details about the assaults will be released later, the police chief added.
