Warsaw meeting 'worthless': Iran top military chief

Tehran, Feb 12, IRNA – Iran's Chief of Staff of Armed Forces Major-General Mohammad-Hossein Baqeri on Tuesday described the Warsaw anti-Iran meeting as 'worthless'.

In an exclusive interview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), General Baqeri said the meeting would not have an effect on the Islamic Republic of Iran's authority.

Poland has promised not to talk against Iran in its ongoing meeting, he said, adding that, 'We should wait to see if Warsaw works out its promise.'

Describing the meeting as 'insignificant', the Iran top army commander reiterated that if Warsaw talks against Iran or not, it would not undermine Iran's powerful stance.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif earlier in a Twitter message had said “Reminder to host/participants of anti-Iran conference: those who attended last US anti-Iran show are dead, disgraced, or marginalized. And Iran is stronger than ever, Polish Govt can't wash the shame: while Iran saved Poles in WWII, it now hosts desperate anti-Iran circus.'

Meantime, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had announced that a meeting with focus on Iran would be held in Poland on February 13-14.

Pompeo claimed that several countries from Asia, Africa, Europe and the Middle East will participate in the meeting.
