Singapore congratulates on Islamic Revolution victory anniv.

Tehran, Feb 11, IRNA – Singaporean President Halimah Yacob in a message issued congratulation over the 40th anniversary of the victory of Islamic Revolution.

In her official letter to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Yacob said, 'On the behalf of the people of the Republic of Singapore, I wish to convey my warmest congratulations to your Excellency and people of Iran on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the victory day of the Islamic Revolution.'

Singapore and Iran share longstanding relations, she said, adding 'I look forward to continue working with you to strengthen the friendship between our two countries.'

She also wished for the continued peace and progress of Iran and Iranian people.

Throughout Iran, millions of people have taken part in the annual rallies to support their 1979 Islamic Revolution in more than 1,000 other cities and towns and in 4,000 villages. They are carrying banners, placards and balloons with slogans and pictures of the founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini and the leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on them.

Hundreds of foreign guests, including journalists, have travelled to Iran to attend and cover the event.

The 10-day period from Imam Khomeini's return from Paris to Tehran on February 1, 1979, until the revolution’s victory on February 11 is celebrated in Iran annually and is dubbed as the `Ten-Day Fajr (Dawn).'
