MP: Iranian Armenians to attend Bahman 22 rallies

Isfahan, Feb 10, IRNA – Iranian Armenians will attend the nationwide rallies to be held on Bahman 22 (February 11) to mark the 40th victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, an Iranian lawmaker said.

Talking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Representative of Armenians to Iran Parliament Georgik Abrahamian said the Iranian Armenian communities consider their turnout in this national epic as their 'duty'.

Abrahamian underlined that the Armenians living in Iran know that the Islamic Revolution was a move which aims to safeguard human dignity against oppression and violence.

He added the Iranian Armenian communities have always stood by their countrymen in settling problems in the country and a number of them have been martyred in defense of Iran during the eight-year war (1980–88) imposed on the country.

People all across Iran will commemorate the 40th anniversary of their Islamic Revolution on Monday by pouring into streets and taking part in rallies.

The day of the late Imam Khomeini’s return to Iran from exile (Feb 1, 1979) marks the beginning of the Ten-Day Dawn during which ceremonies are held which culminate with the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution on February 11.

Iranian people toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 40 years ago, ending 2,500 years of absolute monarchy in the country.
