Zarif off to Beirut to meet senior Lebanese officials

Beirut, Feb 10, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif left Tehran for Beirut on Sunday to hold talks with senior Lebanese officials.

Earlier on Thursday, Iran's Ambassador to Beirut Mohammad-Jalal Firouznia had told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that Zarif would meet several Lebanese officials on Monday.

Firouznia said Zarif might also attend ceremonies, due to be held in Beirut on Monday night, in commemoration of the 40th victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution of Iran.

Zarif's latest visit to Lebanon dates back to two years ago when he held talks with Lebanon’s newly-elected President Michel Aoun in Beirut, becoming the first foreign minister to meet with the Lebanese head of state.

He also met with Lebanese Prime Minister, Saad Hariri, during his previous visit to Beirut.
