Iranian exporters to operate through Iraqi banks

Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA - Iranian banks can have a dinar account in Iraqi banks, according to an agreement reached by the head of the Central Bank of Iran and Iraqi counterpart.

Per the agreement, Iranian exporters can operate vie the Iraqi banks.

It was reached between Abdul Naser Hemmati and the head of Iraqi banks, members of the Iraqi Chamber of Commerce and Economic activists on the second day of his trip to Iraq.

In this meeting, while highlighting the achievements of the Islamic Revolution over the past four decades, the official made the remark, 'The United States has implemented the two most severe sanctions for Iran and sought to create chaos in Iran by weakening the national currency but with the efforts of the authorities and people, we were able to control inflation and govern stability in economic affairs.'

In another part of his remarks, the chairman of the Monetary and Credit Council of Iran referred to talks with the head of the Central Bank of Iraq and said, ”In these two days, we had good agreements with the head of the Central Bank of Iraq, and we believe that the banking relationship is the key to the development of Iran's economic relations.'
