Mode of payment for Iraq’s electricity and gas imports from Iran is the major chapter of the agreement.

Hemmati was received by his Iraqi counterpart Ali Mohsen Ismail al-Alaq upon his arrival in Baghdad on Tuesday evening.

“My objective to visit the friendly and fraternal country of Iraq with which we have good political, economic and trade relations, is to hold talks with authorities about the latest status of our cooperation,” Hemmati said.

Iran's financial chief praised 'considerable' Iranian public and private sector exports to Iraq. But, he acknowledged 'shortcomings in banking and monetary consultations, saying Iranian exporters have been facing problems in getting their money back.
