Iran calls for expansion of cultural-scientific ties with Syria

Tehran, Feb 4, IRNA – A visiting Iranian parliamentary delegation stressed the need for expansion of cultural and scientific cooperation with Syria in Damascus on Monday.

Ahmad Mazani, the head of the Parliament Cultural Commission, who is leading the Iranian delegation, in a meeting with Head of the Cultural, Education, High Education and Scientific Research Committee at the Syrian People Assembly, Abdul-salam Mohammad Rashed al-Dahmoush, stressed the need for expansion of all-out mutual collaboration, Syrian News Agency SANA wrote.

Rashed al-Dahmoush, for his part, affirmed the deep-rooted friendly relations binding Syria and Iran, calling for activating the joint cultural activities and exchanging visits regarding this issue.

Prior to his visit to Syria, Iranian lawmaker traveled to Beirut and held talks with the Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri.

Last week, First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri paid an official visit to Syria on June 28-29 during which the two countries signed several agreements with the aim of boosting cooperation in cultural, scientific and cinema arenas.
