Iran parliament to mull EU financial mechanism, INSTEX

Tehran, Jan 31, IRNA – The National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iranian Majlis (Parliament) will examine registration of the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX) between Iran and Europe.

Member of the Committee Mohammad-Javad Jamali told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Thursday that the Committee members will along with Iranian Foreign Ministry officials study the economic and political aspects of INSTEX.

He said Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif and related officials will be invited to attend the session.

'INSTEX is a forward-looking but insufficient move; we expected Europe to act on the issue sooner,' Jamali said.

Iran's Ambassador to London Hamid Baeedinejad said on Thursday that registration of INSTEX between Germany, Britain and France and Iran has been finalized and will be announced in the coming hours.

Germany's NDR TV channel also said INSTEX has been officially registered.
