Iran to revise stance on JCPOA if West not meet commitments: Spox

Tehran, Jan 31, IRNA – Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said on Wednesday that if the Western states do not fulfill their commitments under the JCPOA, Iran will reconsider its stance vis-à-vis JCPOA.

In an interview with Russia Today on Wednesday, he added that despite delays by the European states on Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), we acted with goodwill.

“We will try to do away with the destructive impacts of the US sanctions,” he said.

Imposed punishment on Iran runs counter to all international regulations, he said.

European states and other countries which are interested to see Iran stay in JCPOA should do something with the SPV to make US sanctions ineffective, he said.

“We are not yet totally pessimistic, as the EU can still do something to reduce the impacts of the sanctions,” he said.

The Iranian people and government are capable of neutralizing US destructive policies, he said, adding that they will take decisions on the basis of national interests.

This is not the first time that Iran is under sanctions and it will resist the US antagonistic policies, as it can meet its primary needs, Qasemi said.
