Iran's nuclear chief says Russians complying with all commitments

Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA – Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran appreciated Russia for compliance with all its commitments, saying in some cases they even went beyond, but within the framework of the IAEA regulations.

Speaking in an exclusive onterview with the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), Ali Akbar Salehi said of course Russia's measure are within the framework of Iran's nuclear deal also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the IAEA safeguard and the nuclear proliferation.

Salehi also called for facilitating modernization of Arak Heavy Water Reactor Facility, saying Tehran has various options in this case, but hopes for Europeans not to delay and not to make Iran use other options.

Referring to promotion of Tehran Reasearch Reactor, he said it will prolong the reactor's lifespan for 20 years resulting in more radioisotops.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi criticized China for delay in modernization of Arak reactor.

Alluding to international cooperation in nuclear security, training and also in nuclear fusion project with Europe, he said totally the international cooperation conditions are no ideal.

After the US unilateral withdrawal from JCPOA, despite its commitments, China reduced the speed of cooperation, Salehi said, adding that China says the US may sanction its nuclear-related firms if it has cooperation with Iran.

'This is while, we are working based on the Resolution 2231 which has been verified by P5+1,' .

Salehi went on to say that the JCPOA signatories except the US have not stopped the project, but its speed is not good.

He warned JCPAO parties to be committed otherwise Iran has also various options to face with any situation.

In response to a question regarding purchasing new pipes for the reactor core and different media reports on the issues and possible weakening of Iran's position in the IAEA, Salehi said 'we have reapeatedly announced that we have not done anything against international regulations and dometic laws'.

Salehi dismissed the news on filling Arak heavy water nuclear reactor, saying some attempted to release Photoshop pictures to reverse the reality.

Answering another question on Iran-IAEA relations, he said the relations are good in the framework of safeguard and the nuclear proliferation.

'The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed this in its 13 consecutive reports, based on a robust verification system, proving that Iran is implementing its nuclear commitments.'
