IRNA chief urges dialogue to boost national authority, integrity

Bushehr, Jan 30, IRNA – The managing director of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) says promoting public participation and hope in society could be achieved through bolstering national integrity and authority of the establishment.

'On the eve of the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution, we are witnessing realization of many of the ideals of the Revolution,' Zia Hashemi told reporters in the southern Iranian port city of Bushehr on Wednesday.

'But we need to make bigger efforts to realize other Islamic Revolution ideals,' Hashemi added.

Referring to the job done by IRNA as an agency that 'belongs both to the Iranian government and people' and 'where the people can have their say', he said that the official news agency strives to portray accurately the achievements made by the country over the past 40 years since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution.

He said that IRNA is committed to inform the public on the achievements made by the government and at the same time to communicate to the country's officials the criticisms and demands made by the public.
