Supreme Leader pays tribute to Imam Khomeini, martyrs

Tehran, Jan 30, IRNA - Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Wednesday visited the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini in southern Tehran to pay homage to the late founder of the Islamic Republic in Iran.

According to Supreme Leader Office media center, Ayatollah Khamenei also paid tribute to the memories of a number of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

He visited the tombs of Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti, Mohammad-Ali Rajai who served as President of Iran as well as a number of other Islamic Republic officials who were martyred by opponent groups in terrorist operations.

Ayatollah Khamenei also prayed for the souls of the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution and the Sacred Defense.

The Supreme Leader visited the Late Imam Khomeini's tomb on the eve of the ten-day celebrations marking the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
