New Inscription discovered in Naqshe-Rustam ancient site

Shiraz, Jan 29, IRNA - A researcher in the field of ancient Iranian culture and languages announced that a new and tri-lingual inscription, hidden so far, had been discovered in the Naqshe-Rustam ancient site which refers to anonymous Achaemenid character in history.

Mojtaba Doroudi said on Tuesday that the inscription is placed on the hillside around the tomb of Darius in Naqshe- Rustam, and because of hiding in the sediments and covers that have been created in this place for the last two thousand years, has been hidden.

The discoverer of the ancient inscription highlighted, “The discovery in the field of linguistics, Iranology and history is a historical achievement of recent half a century.'

The researcher added, “Naqshe-Rustam 's inscriptions were previously discovered and read by Schmidt about 70 to 80 years ago.'

He continued, 'The inscription has not been seen so far and I saw it when I was taking pictures of the area.'

'The text of this inscription is about one of the high figures of the Achaemenid court and ancient Persia, which has not been mentioned in history,' said Davoudi.
