Diplomat: Some countries seeking fabricated conflicts among Muslims

Baghdad, Jan 28, IRNA – Some political movements and countries are seeking war and conflict among Muslims, Iran’s ambassador to Iraq Iraj Masjedi said on Monday.

Masjedi made the remarks during a meeting in Baghdad with a number of university professors, journalists and tribal leaders.

'They don’t want friendship and good relations among us. They like neither Iran nor Iraq and for that reason they make every attempt to create discord among us,' the ambassador said.

Creating discord among Shia and Sunni Muslims or among Iran and Arab countries is a plot by ill-wishers to create conflict and war among brothers in a family so as to meet their own interests, he added.

In reaction to the participants’ appreciation of Iran’s support for Baghdad in the war against Daesh terrorist group, he said that this support was a duty and a source of pride for Iran.

Masjedi noted that Iran stands by the “Iraqi brothers” both during war times and in the reconstruction era.
