Japanese Uni to host Islam-Shinto forum

Tehran, Jan 27, IRNA- Japanese Kogakkan University will host a religious forum about Islam and Shinto, the traditional religion practiced in the East Asian country.

'Religious talks between Iran and Japan focused on Islam and Shinto will be held for the first time at the Kogakkan,' said university's president Kiyoshi Shimizu on Sunday without giving further details.

He made the announcement during a meeting with Iran's cultural attaché in Japan Hossein Divsalar that was held in Tokyo.

A representative from Japan's most important Shinto shrine Ise Jingu also attended the talks.

'Kogakkan University, the most important Shinto educational centre, Ise Shrine as well as Iran's Islamic Culture and Relations Organisation will hold the event,' said Divsalar.

Iran initiated various rounds of talks between religions in different countries. Previous rounds were held between Iran and Austria, Iran and France as well as Islam and Hinduism.
