Syrian market, an opportunity for promotion of Qazvin exports: Official

Qazvin, Jan 27, IRNA – Syrian market provides an exemplary opportunity for expansion of non-oil exports in northern Iranian province of Qazvin that needs to be made use of, according to a local official.

Manouchehr Habibi, the director of economic affairs and expansion of human resources in Qazvin governor-general’s office, made the remarks speaking addressing a committee meeting on enhancement of non-oil exports.

He said that an agreement has been signed between Iran’s Ministry of Road and Urban Development and the Syrian Ministry of Trade.

The ground is prepared for partnership of Iranian investors in Syria, he said, adding that other countries are also eyeing to have a share in the Syrian market.

“Syria needs our technology and services, and this provides a good opportunity for the expansion of exports of Iranian products, including those coming from Qazvin Province,” the official said.

Noting that constructional materials and food are the main needs of the Syrian market, Habibi urged the private sector of the province to step in to meet part of the country’s needs.
