Cause of Iranian shepherd’s death in Turkmenistan border under investigation

Mashad, Jan 26, IRNA - The cause of the death of the Iranian shepherd who died on January 12 due to an unknown reason on Turkmenistan's soil is under investigation.

Dargaz Governor Mohammad Hassan Farhadi said on Saturday that the body of the shepherd Ali Qorbani was handed over to the Iranian authorities on Wednesday by the authorities of Turkmenistan and now the forensic medicine department is investigating the exact cause of the death.

He stated that the shepherd had entered the territory of Turkmenistan for sheep grazing and said that no traces of the bullet had been observed on the body of this person, and that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the judiciary are pursuing the rights of this Iranian citizen through diplomatic channels.

Khorasan Razavi has 530 km of common border with Turkmenistan, of which 155 km is placed in the city of Dargaz. The center of this city is 75,000 people located at 254 kilometers north of Mashad.
