Iran military plane crash report awaits black box info

Tehran, Jan 26, IRNA - A parliamentary delegation, tasked with identifying the causes of a recent military plane crash near the capital Tehran, says it's waiting for the retrieved black box information to be deciphered.

'Preliminary reports are available, but the information from the plane's black box will be given to the Parliament in two days,' said Mohammad Reza Rezai, head of the Parliament's Civil Commission on Saturday.

He stressed the final report should wait until the black box information is deciphered.

A Boeing 707 that belonged to the Iranian Army made an emergency landing in a small airport in the province of Alborz west of the capital, Tehran a fortnight ago. Authorities first said it mistook the small airport with a bigger one, some miles away.

The aircraft hit the airport's walls at the end of the runway, crashing into an empty residential complex. 15 people from the crew lost their lives in the accident. The only survivor, the flight engineer, was hospitalized.
