Animal products exports from Isfahan hit $18m

Tehran, Jan 23, IRNA- Iran's central Isfahan province has exported 18 million dollars worth of animal products since the start of the current Persian year (March 21, 2018).

'Isfahan province doesn't export livestock, but we are exporting animal products to 21 countries,' Shahram Movahedi, the provincial Veterinary Organization's General Manager told IRNA.

He highlighted the importance of this figure, saying 'animal parts were not paid attention to in the past, but we are exporting them now'.

Cow internal parts, including omasum, are among the new export items from the central Iranian province that 'started seven years ago, but have seen a steep rise during the last three years', according to the official.

Isfahan now ranks second among Iran's animal products exporters, Movahedi added.

The official says exporting such items is in line with the government's strategy to increase non-oil exports in the face of restrictions in selling the country's crude, referring to restored unilateral US sanctions on Iran.
