Japanese diplomat: Tokyo keen on expansion of all-out ties with Tehran

Tehran, Jan 24, IRNA - Japan's new ambassador to Iran Mitsuo Saito said here on Wednesday that Tokyo welcomes expansion of political, economic and cultural relations with Tehran.

In a meeting with the Special Aide to the Speaker of Iranian Parliament in International Affairs Amir Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Japanese diplomat pointed to 90 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Expressing his content with the progress of mutual ties, Saito said Japan attaches great significance to expansion of its relations with Iran as a country which enjoys an ancient civilization and plays a leading role in the region and across the world.

Underlining the abundant untapped capacity in Iran-Japan relations, Amir Abdollahian, for his part, highlighted the importance of boosting mutual ties.

He added that the 90th anniversary of mutual diplomatic relations signifies the depth of relations between the two countries.

Amir Abdollahian commented that reinforcement of parliamentary relations would pave the way for all-out ties between the two countries.

The Iranian and Japanese officials also stressed the significance of exchanging parliamentary delegations between the two coutnries.
