Iran vanquishing sanctions by relying on domestic capacities: Veep

Kerman, Jan 22, IRNA - First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri said Iran cannot be sanctioned due to its vast capacities and also because the nation will trounce the sanctions by relying on domestic capabilities and resources.

Jahangiri made the remarks on Tuesday during the opening ceremony of Bardsir Steel Complex in the province Kerman in mid-south of country.

The inauguration took place on the eve of the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution which put an end to the rule of Pahlavid dynasty in Iran.

Jahangiri underlined that development projects should be designed and carried out in a manner that would disappoint enemies and show them that sanctions will have no effect on the nation.

We must further cultivate the spirit of self-confidence in ourselves and build upon the fact that Iran is a great country with vast capacities, the high-ranking official reiterated, noting, 'the Iranian nation can overcome challenges.'

He said though the Iranian nation was looking for a solution based on dialogue and logic, it would not stand use of force or humiliation.

Jahangiri further highlighted the necessity of exploring and opening bright horizons before the country.

The Vice President went on to say that the government was quite aware of the problems people were facing in the country such as employment and was planning to tackle them.

He stated that the government was planing in line with the country's development purposes and was working to foil enemies plans against Iran by improving the economic situation via encouraging export and import.

Jahangiri pointed to the natural and other advantages of Iran like its huge oil and gas reserves, skilled manpower and mines and industries and stressed that celebrations for 40th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution was of special significance since 'Americans have taken every measure in the past forty years against Islamic Republic and tried to prevent the system from reaching its goals.'
