ISIS attack kills 2 police officers in eastern Iraq

Baghdad, Jan 21, IRNA – Two members of Iraqi federal police were killed in ISIS (Daesh) terrorist attack in a security base in Khanaqin City, Diyala Province in eastern Iraq.

A security source announced on Sunday night that, ISIS terrorists attacked a security center in Shirak village located in Khanaqin City near the common borders with Iran and killed two police officers.

According to sources, ISIS attacks have increased over the past two months and have so far claimed the lives over 12 people.

Despite the fact that end of Daesh military attacks had been declared earlier, ISIS terrorists’ sporadic attacks are still underway in Kirkuk, northern Iraq and in western parts of the country as well.

This is while, Commander of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) for Al-Anbar operation Qassem Mosleh earlier announced that the artillery units' attacks on ISIS positions have killed or injured 35 terrorists.

Meanwhile earlier in an operation aiming at eradicating terrorism, the Iraqi F-16 jetfighters bombarded a Daesh (ISIS) gathering attended by 30 commanders of the terrorist group in Syria.

It is worth mentioning that Iraqi jetfighters have the permission to use the Syrian airspace to bomb Daesh positions.
