Iran seizes over 600 kg of heroin in southern country

Tehran, Jan 19, IRNA – Iran’s Intelligence ministry forces have busted a shipment of 618 kilograms of heroin in a southern port of the country.

According to a report by the intelligence ministry, obtained by the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Saturday, the haul of heroin was destined for Europe.

The cargo was reportedly embedded in four 40-feet containers in a skillful way packed in transit packages.

Despite high economic and human costs, Iran has been actively fighting drug-trafficking over the past three decades.

The country has spent more than $700 million on sealing its borders and preventing the transit of narcotics destined for European, Arab and Central Asian countries.
