Zarif confers with Sec-Gen of PUK

Sulaymaniyah, Jan 15, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif discussed bilateral relations and regional developments with the Secretary General of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Koser Rasoul, in Sulaymaniyah late on Tuesday.

Zarif arrived in Sulaymaniyah after Erbil on his official four-day visit to Iraq.

After delivering a lecture in the Joint Economic Conference on Iran and Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), he sat down for talks with Koser Rasoul.

During the meeting, Zarif hailed the late president Jalal Talabani’s crucial role in Iraq and KRG’s national unity and called on KRG’s political elements to set up Kurdistan government at the earliest.

Both officials voiced support for economic and trade cooperation between Sulaymaniyah and Islamic Republic of Iran as well private sector’s endeavors to help deepen mutual cooperation.

They also stressed the need for political settlement of Syrian crisis.

Zarif arrived in Iraq late on Sunday for talks with the country’s officials.

He is slated to visit the holy city of Karbala to attend the two countries’ economic activists’ conference.
