Zarif meets leaders of Iraqi Faction of Construction

Baghdad, Jan 14, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that victory over Daesh and transition from Sectarianism are among the Iraqi nation’s major achievements.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Head of the Iraqi Faction of Construction Hadi Ameri and members of the fraction.

He further noted that establishment of the faction is a clear example of victory and democracy in Iraq.

Hailing the role of religious leaders and Iraqi people which made Iraq victorious over terrorism, he said, “It was as a result of the same victory that Baghdad has now turned into a major capital in the region which is currently visited by different political and economic delegations.”

“My visits to the countries do not usually exceed one day and five-day visit to the country indicates significance I attach to the country,” he said.

He also voiced Iran’s readiness for promoting political and economic relations with Iraq.

Ameri, for his part, said that his faction comprises members from all tribes and ethnic groups and people’s demand from the fraction is transition from sectarianism.

Referring to numerous diplomatic visits to Baghdad, he said that the meetings indicate that Iraq has achieved remarkable stability.

“Iraq is a major regional state and if it cannot fulfill its role, it will be detrimental to the region,” he said.

During the meeting, both sides stressed the need for strong ties between the two governments and nations.
