FM Zarif stresses Iran-Iraq brotherly ties

Baghdad, Jan 14, IRNA – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with heads and members of Iraqi religious, political, cultural, ethnical and social bodies underlined the brotherly relations between Tehran and Baghdad.

Close relations between Iran and Iraq are promising and a great example of relations between the regional nations, Zarif said.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Abdul Latif Al-Hmayem, chief of the Sunni Waqf (endowment) described as legitimate defending Iran against US cruel sanctions.

Representatives of Iraqi religious and social bodies emphasized their willingness to maintain close and friendly ties with Iran.

Holding talks with high-ranking Iraqi officials, taking part in Iran-Iraq joint trade conferences in Karbala and Sulaymaniyah are also on Zarif's itinerary.
