Iran attaches importance to ties with India: Spokesman

Tehran, Jan 14, IRNA – Iran attaches importance to relations with India, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday.

India is an important country and Iran hopes that the cooperation documents between the two countries will be executed successfully, Bahram Qasemi said in a weekly press briefing.

The official described Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif's recent trip to India as positive and constructive.

Heading a high-ranking political-economic delegation, Zarif had an official three-day visit to India last week and met with senior Indian officials, including that country's Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Zarif also met Indian scholars and scientists, delivered speech at India–Iran Business Forum and addressed the international meeting of Raisina Dialogue.

Talks on energy, transit, banking and finance were the main focus of Iran's foreign minister who was accompanied by a team of businessmen and entrepreneurs during his visit to the South Asian country.
