Pakistan says facilitating efforts for peaceful solution to Afghan issue

Islamabad, Jan 10, IRNA -- Pakistan Foreign Ministry Spokesperson says Pakistan is facilitating efforts for a peaceful solution in Afghanistan.

Dr. Mohammad Faisal in a tweet message on Thursday said Pakistan believes that an intra-Afghan dialogue is the only way to a successful negotiated settlement.

Earlier, while responding to a question of IRNA at his weekly media briefing in Islamabad, Faisal said Pakistan believes that neighbors of Afghanistan should be on board to play a role for Afghan peace process.

He acknowledged Iran’s role in Afghan peace process, adding that regional consensus is important for the success and sustainability of reconciliation efforts in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi during a meeting with Afghan president’s special representative Umar Dawood Zai said Pakistan is to continue its role for reconciliation and enduring peace in Afghanistan.

On the occasion, FM Qureshi also said Pakistan has played its sincere role for peace process and political solution of Afghan issue, and international community is now recognizing its endeavours, he added.

He said peaceful and stable Afghanistan can guarantee stability in the region.
