Police discovers over 2 tons of narcotics in SE Iran

Zahedan, Jan 9, IRNA – Deputy police commander of Sistan and Baluchestan announced that over 2 tons of narcotics were confiscated in an armed conflict with smugglers in Iranshahrcity of the province.

While patrolling, the anti-narcotic police officers suspected a car and tried to stop it, Brigadier General Ahmad Taheri said.

The smugglers shot at police officers before running away, he added.

They also started burning the narcotics bags, Brigadier General Taheri noted.

After investigating the conflict site, 1,855 tons of burnt drugs and 145,800 kilograms of opium were discovered, Taheri said.
