Berlin Film Festival invites Iran female filmmaker

Tehran, Jan 8, IRNA - Iranian female filmmaker Shilan Saadi has been invited to take part in the Berlinale Talents section of Berlin International Film Festival in Germany.

According to a media report, filmmaker Saadi is to represent Iran at the documentary section of Berlinale Talents, ifilmtv.ir reported.

Her documentary ‘I Promise’ is to be screened at the German film event.

‘I Promise’ tells the story of seven Izadi girls, who found shelter in a Turkish refugee camp, after Daesh terrorists invaded their hometown of Sinjar. The film explores the friendship that developed between them and follows their lives after they separated and each found herself living in another country.

Saadi was born in 1980 in the Kurdish city of Mahabad in northwest of Iran and she grew up there. She was inspired by its people, its nature, and its culture. Her films and photos reflect this inspiration. Cinema for her is a way of living for telling stories about life, about people and their daily struggles, and about forgotten cultures.

Berlinale Talents is the annual summit and networking platform of the Berlin International Film Festival for 250 outstanding creatives from the fields of film and drama series. Berlinale Talents is aimed at film and television professionals in the early stages of their careers. It comprises a wide range of talks, panel discussions, workshops, case studies and screenings of select alumni films.

Berlinale Talents section of Berlin International Film Festival is slated to be held on February 9-14, in the German capital.
